UFC Fight Night: Moicano vs. Duncan — Full Event Recap | Born For This™

UFC Fight Night: Moicano vs. Duncan — Full Event Recap | Born For This™

Event: UFC Fight Night — Moicano vs. Duncan Date: Saturday, April 4, 2026 Venue: Meta APEX, Las Vegas, Nevada Broadcast: Paramount+

Las Vegas delivered again. UFC Fight Night went down Saturday night at the Meta APEX, and from the first prelim to the final bell of the main event, the card was everything the flyweight division, the strawweight division, and the lightweight title race needed to stay interesting. But before we run through the full card, there's one man who deserves to be at the top of the conversation tonight — and he fought in the prelims.

⭐ Alessandro Costa def. Stewart "Kakamora" Nicoll by TKO (body shot) — Round 2, 4:56 | Flyweight | PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT — $100,000 BONUS

This is the one that matters most to us. And on a night full of finishes, Alessandro Costa produced the most technically beautiful stoppage on the entire card.

Costa came out as the aggressor from the opening bell, backing Nicoll to the fence and establishing his striking game early with powerful hooks inside. Round one was sharp and competitive — Costa landed a right hand that stunned Nicoll, hurt him with a body shot, and controlled the pace before taking the round clearly on the cards.

Round two is where Costa went to work. Costa looked for a takedown early, Nicoll escaped, and the two circled back to center. Costa marched forward landing big shots near the minute mark that had Nicoll in significant trouble. Then came the finish. A beautiful left hook to the body at 4:56 of round two — a perfectly timed liver shot — dropped Nicoll and brought referee Chris Tognoni in to stop the fight.

Clean. Precise. Earned. This is exactly the version of Costa the flyweight division needs to see. He had gone on record before the fight saying he wanted a knockout because it now means a $100,000 bonus under the UFC's new Paramount+ era bonus structure — and he delivered exactly that. Costa had already won performance bonuses for his knockouts over Jimmy Flick and Kevin Borjas in previous UFC outings, and this one makes three. The man delivers when the lights are on.

This performance matters because of the context. Costa had dealt with a devastating toe injury during his loss to Alden Coria at Noche UFC that compromised everything about his game plan that night. Coming back healthy, focused, and in his Born For This™ collab — he looked like the fighter who should be making noise in the division's top ten. Body shot TKO in round two. Performance of the Night. That's the statement.

The Born For This™ x Alessandro Costa Limited-Edition Collab is live now. Every piece in the collection was built for this moment — a fighter who went from sweeping streets in Mexico to earning a Performance of the Night bonus in Las Vegas. The drop is limited. When it's gone, it's gone.

Renato "Money" Moicano def. Chris "The Problem" Duncan by Rear Naked Choke — Round 2, 1:47 | Lightweight | Main Event

The main event delivered exactly what Moicano promised — a calculated, intelligent performance that proved he still has serious ranking implications at 155 pounds. Round one was a measured opening — Moicano landing clean shots to the face and checking Duncan's leg kicks, shooting for takedowns and grappling against the cage while Duncan tried to establish his jab and pressure game.

Round two was emphatic. Duncan came out throwing but Moicano walked him down, sitting Duncan down with a hook and rushing onto his back, throwing hammerfists while looking for the rear choke. With the body triangle in and blood streaming from Duncan's nose, Moicano kept landing hammerfists to the side of the head, eventually cinching in the rear naked choke to force the tap. The finish came at 1:47 of round two, with Moicano landing 62 strikes in that frame compared to Duncan's 21, with 3:18 of ground control.

Moicano snaps his two-fight losing skid in convincing fashion, reminding the 155-pound division that he is still a very real problem. Duncan showed heart and forward pressure throughout but the experience and submission game of "Money" Moicano proved to be the difference when the fight hit the mat.

Virna "Carcara" Jandiroba def. Tabatha "Baby Shark" Ricci by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) | Women's Strawweight | Co-Main Event

Jandiroba answered the question everyone was asking after her title fight loss to Mackenzie Dern. She took Ricci down in round one, maintained back control for the remainder of the opening frame, and carried nearly six minutes of total control time across the first two rounds. Round three saw Ricci come forward with kicks, but Jandiroba kept countering and got another takedown as time expired to seal the round and the fight.

Jandiroba wins clearly across all three judges. Ricci showed toughness and her defensive grappling improved through the fight, but Jandiroba's grinding positional game was simply too consistent. The strawweight gatekeeper remains firmly in the title picture.

Abdul-Rakhman Yakhyaev def. Brendson Ribeiro by Submission — Round 1 | Light Heavyweight

Yakhyaev submitted Ribeiro in the first round, continuing his unbeaten run and cementing himself as one of the most exciting prospects in the light heavyweight division. The 8-0 Contender Series standout looked completely at home inside the Octagon. The division should be paying attention.

Tommy McMillen def. Manolo Zecchini by TKO — Round 1 | Featherweight

McMillen kicked off his UFC career with a first-round stoppage win over Zecchini in an all-out brawl. The Contender Series recruit came out looking to scrap and Zecchini was ready to oblige, trading in the pocket before McMillen started gathering momentum late in the round, unloading until referee Herb Dean stepped in to stop it. "Gun" looked every bit the prospect the UFC signed.

Ethyn Ewing def. Rafael Estevam by Decision | Bantamweight

Ewing took the decision in what was a solid bantamweight showing. Estevam had missed weight for the event, and despite his undefeated record coming in, Ewing did enough to earn the victory on the cards. An important win for the Fountain Valley prospect as he builds his UFC resume.

Prelims — Full Results

Darrius Flowers def. Lando "Groovy" Vannata by TKO — Round 2, 0:52 | Lightweight

Flowers scored a second-round finish over Vannata to earn the first UFC win of his career. After a competitive opening round, Flowers hurt Vannata with a powerful slam late in the frame. In round two he deposited Vannata on the canvas again and the quick strikes from top position halted the action. An explosive performance for "Beast Mode" who had dropped his first three UFC appearances. Vannata, in his first fight since April 2023, showed flashes of his creative offense but couldn't contain Flowers' physicality.

Alice Pereira def. Hailey Cowan by KO (Knee) — Round 2, 4:24 | Women's Bantamweight

Pereira scored her first UFC win in nasty fashion, catching Cowan with a stepping left knee to the chin late in the second round. The youngest fighter on the UFC roster lived up to the billing — aggressive, athletic, and dangerous. A statement performance for the Brazilian prospect.

Tresean Gore def. Azamat Bekoev by Submission — Round 3 | Middleweight

Gore rallied back to secure the most impressive win of his UFC career with a third-round submission finish after a wildly entertaining back-and-forth. Gore's takedown completion rate is among the best in the division's history and he proved it when it counted most tonight.

Dione Barbosa def. Melissa Gatto by Majority Decision (28-28, 29-27, 29-27) | Women's Flyweight

A competitive women's flyweight bout that went to the cards. Barbosa did enough across three rounds to earn the majority nod in what was a back-and-forth grappling battle from start to finish.

Kai Kamaka III def. Dakota Hope by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) | Lightweight

The opening bout of the night delivered an outstanding back-and-forth scrap. Kamaka earned his first UFC win in nearly six years in a fight that had the Meta APEX buzzing from the jump. Both men left everything in the cage.

Thomas Petersen def. Guilherme Pat by Decision | Heavyweight

Petersen dominated across three rounds, landing 168 strikes with a knockout takedown and nearly nine minutes of ground control to earn the unanimous nod in the lone heavyweight bout on the card.
